Everyone wants a spacious and bright apartment
When preparing a home for sale, it’s important to bear in mind that everyone wants a spacious and bright home. Even if they are buying a 30 sqm studio in the courtyard. Buyers love it when a space feels bigger than what’s on the title deed than what they’re paying for. To give it that feeling, paint all the walls a completely bright colour. Not only do coloured walls absorb light and visually narrow the space, they also add a character to the interior that may not be to everyone’s taste. Keep all walls completely neutral and light so you don’t lose a potential customer because they don’t like the grey or terracotta colour!
In our Lehel Street project, the most visible change was the repainting of the wall. We did a very good job in preparing this apartment, because our clients knew that the best way to serve public taste was to leave everything white. They only wanted to sneak something “playful” into one room, so the main bedroom was painted grey. We later learned that they hadn’t intended the grey that was first painted on the walls, so the contractor repainted the room several times, which actually made it darker. So the master bedroom, which should be the most prominent part of the home, ended up being the darkest, most gloomy part. So here we started the preparation by repainting this room white. The result was a shock even to us. Even when there was only one layer on top, you could already see that the mood of the room, the lighting and the sense of space would be completely different!
Home staging golden rule: All walls should be completely clear for the greatest possible sense of space, the most ideal lighting conditions and the most general public taste! This is how you can present the best face of your apartment.
